Keeping your information safe

Protecting private information is as important to us as it is to our customers. That’s why we encourage our clients and policyholders to remain vigilant when it comes to sharing private data on websites or through email.

Please keep these data protection tips in mind:

  • Make sure you’re using legitimate websites. When you access the Unum website, check the web address to make sure you are on our official site.
  • Validate your contact and financial information. When accessing your account, check your contact and financial information periodically to ensure they are correct.
  • Practice good information-security hygiene. Use complex passwords and enable multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Be alert for phishing. Be cautious of unexpected emails and text messages containing links. Even if they appear to come from a trusted company, always go to the company’s website from your browser instead of clicking on the link.
  • Report suspicious activity. If a Unum communication or website strikes you as suspicious, report it right away. Do not click on any links or attachments. Instead, contact us for assistance.
