The locked fields are controlled by Unum to ensure the plan design matches our contracts. Any non-locked fields are editable including employee eligibility rules, plan names and deductions. Customer is responsible for maintaining any non-locked fields.

Unum will make the necessary updates and push those changes into ADP. There will be a notification in the ADP Workforce Now system when an update has been sent.

No, Unum can only recognize plans that are set up through the connection. Please work with your Unum representative if you encounter a scenario where an additional Unum plan is needed.

You control all eligibility rules and enrollment events per the usual ADP Workforce Now process. If assistance is needed with eligibility or enrollment, please contact your ADP representative.

Normal ADP process — view enrollments or create report or in ADP. All elections are in the ADP Workforce Now system, Unum does not maintain enrollments.

Plan Administrators should be able to create a Work Event in ADP for newly eligible employees, which will open a window for the member to make the necessary election changes. Please reach out to ADP if you have questions on how to create a Work Event.

Please note that members must first be enrolled in Dental and/or Vision coverage before cards will be available. If the coverage is provided by Starmount Life Insurance Company, ID cards can be accessed by logging into Unum.com > Plan Administration >Dental/Vision Resources. The billing statement reflects elections that are effective in ADP Workforce Now as of the first of the bill month. For example, the July bill (for period 7/1–7/31) will show what elections are effective on 7/1. You can validate who is enrolled in coverage any time by referencing your ADP Workforce Now system.

Any credit or debit balance forwards are due to prior months being over or underpaid. You may also have a balance forward if your last payment has not been applied prior to the current month posting.

Navigate to the “payment options” page to enter your banking information. Then on the statement you can check which policies to pay and click the “pay online” button. Payments are generally applied within 48 hours.

Statements post by the end of the month and users with access will receive an automated email when ready to view.

Within 31 days of the “due by” date on the statement. For example, the statement for period of 7/1–7/31 will indicate due 8/1. Payment is expected within 31 days after 8/1. Note: if payment is not applied prior to next statement generating there will be a balance forward on the next statement.

Yes, the rules in the plan setup are built by Unum to match your contract. When an employee makes an election the ADP Workforce Now system determines if EOI is needed based on the enrollment information entered (date of hire, effective date, etc.).

The EOI request will close automatically after 60 days if no response is received. The Member will remain enrolled in the elected nonmedical maximum amount.

No. Around 80–85% of members completing an EOI questionnaire will receive an immediate decision, whether that be an approval or denial. For those that require additional review, ADP will be updated automatically if the request is approved.

Within the ADP Workforce Now system there is a report that captures which employees are pending EOI.

Yes, plan administrators will receive a notification in their ADP Dashboard showing EOI-related activities. These notifications do not require any action by the Plan Administrator, they’re purely informational.

Your Unum Onboarding Specialist will work with ADP prior to open enrollment to ensure that prior coverage is loaded to your new Unum integrated plans.

No, the Unum EOI integration only works if the employee utilizes the self-service enrollment functionality within ADP Workforce Now.
