Unum launches dental and vision coverage

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --  A longtime leader in employee benefits, Unum (NYSE:UNM) has entered a new arena with the launch of Unum Dental and Unum Vision.

The addition of dental and vision insurance – two important coverages that employees need and want – enables Unum to become the single provider of employee benefits packages that complement health and retirement.

“Dental and vision plans are essential to a comprehensive employee benefits package,” said Unum US President and CEO Mike Simonds. “With the addition of these products, we’re able to add value for brokers and employers with one-stop shopping and streamlined enrollment, administration and customer service processes.”

Starmount Life Insurance Company, a fast-growing dental and vision insurance business acquired by Unum in 2016, will be the center of expertise for these products in the United States.

“Unum and Starmount share a commitment to quality coverage and customer service,” said Deborah Sternberg, president of Starmount. ”We’ve joined forces to offer greater value and an excellent customer experience to employers and their employees.”

Unum Dental and Unum Vision products offer flexible plan designs, comprehensive national provider networks, and a convenient mobile app with provider locators, benefit overviews and claims tracking.

Unum Vision is now available nationwide. Unum Dental is being marketed in the South and Midwest regions, and will be offered in additional markets by 2018.
